“…Who is able to stand before the LORD, this holy God?”

1 Samuel 6:20 ESV

The unholy priests took the ark of the LORD to battle, and they did not stand for long. The Philistines captured the ark and placed it before Dagon their idol, but neither he nor the people could stand for long. Finally, they send it back to the land of Israel. There, casual men gazed upon the ark, and they did not stand for long. Who then may stand before the glorious presence of the LORD? He whose walk is blameless and does what is right and speaks the truth from his heart.

Yet all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. None of us on the strength of our good works can stand and face God in His glory. But God has revealed a way for mankind to be in the right with Him, through faith in Jesus Christ who became our atoning sacrifice for sin. I stand because God sees me through the sacrifice of Christ.
